Where Right Wing Bloggers And Al-Qaeda Converge (part 2)

I just want to get this one out of my system, just to build on the previous post a bit.  Maybe this is just a reflex I’m having to all the ridiculous arguments made out there on conservablogs pointing that very finger in the direction of the left.  So, here’s another example (I originally posted a couple months back) of where some right wing bloggers may very well be al-Qaeda’s buddies.

Take popular conservative blogger Debbie Schlussel on Barack Obama:

So, even if he identifies strongly as a Christian, and even if he despised the behavior of his father (as Obama said on Oprah); is a man who Muslims think is a Muslim, who feels some sort of psychological need to prove himself to his absent Muslim father, and who is now moving in the direction of his father’s heritage, a man we want as President when we are fighting the war of our lives against Islam? Where will his loyalties be?

I’d like to be fair, since there were at least a few right-leaning blogs that took her to task for that post, except the issue wasn’t really about the part I bolded.  Ya know, the “war of our lives against Islam” part.  After all, if we were really at war with Islam, it’d make that collaborative relationship we have with the Iraqi soldiers a bit different, wouldn’t it?  I’m guessing the troops would find that change an unwelcome new development, to say the least.

Now, say what you want about Bush (I know I have), but at least he’s smart enough to recognize that declaring war on a billion people wouldn’t be in our best interest right now. At least he’s said so publicly:

“My country desires peace,” Bush told world leaders in the cavernous main hall at the U.N. “Extremists in your midst spread propaganda claiming that the West is engaged in a war against Islam. This propaganda is false and its purpose is to confuse you and justify acts of terror. We respect Islam.”

Is this true though?  Do we have any hard evidence that the terrorists are trying to send that message?  Uh oh, we do.  Where does that put Debbie?

Update: Another great example of this is comes from the bloggers at tmq2. They ask ‘the Muslim question’, while the blogs header is adorned with rows of troops. Why the 2 you ask? Because their first attempt on the blogger service got flagged as hate (go figure). Nevertheless, they apparently think they’re saving America .
