Swiftboating John McCain

January 18, 2008

I suppose I shouldn’t be too surprised by this:  Vietnam Veterans Against John McCain

(h/t Hot Air)

After 2004, I was kind of hoping that the Vietnam War wouldn’t be a campaign issue this time around.  So much for that.

  1. What the bloody zarking Belgium is wrong with the blasted GOP?

Apparently, heroic Vietnam service is epitomized by George W. Bush and Dan Quayle; John Kerry, Bob Kerrey, Max Cleland, and their ilk (you know, people who actually went to ‘Nam) are scum (except Ollie North, who’s good because he sold weapons to our friends in Iran … oh, wait …).

    Ahem. Where was I?

    Oh, yeah …

I especially liked the critique of the planes he lost. One was a mechanical failure, one was someone else’s error (firing a rocket and blowing the plane up) … and one that appears to have been pilot error on his part is compared to another accident, so deaths are put in that didn’t happen in McCain’s own incident.

It’s nice to see people holding to the high road.
