Maybe we really do have al Qaeda on the run! Al-Qaeda’s supposed #2 man is resorting to ad Hominems: Now It’s Personal: Al Qaeda Calls Bush an Alcoholic Liar.
The latest taped statement from al Qaeda is an unusually personal attack on President Bush, in which al Qaeda’s No. 2 in command, Ayman al Zawahiri, denounces Bush as “an alcoholic, liar and gambler with an addictive personality.”
Zawahiri delivers the attack in a 40-minute audio tape released overnight on Internet sites, and relayed to ABC News by an American terror analyst, Laura Mansfield.
Note to Zawahiri: Go back to your cave and leave the Bush-bashing to the pros. No one cares what you think.
Update: Predictably, some blogs are using Zawahiri’s rhetoric as a free shot at Democrats (because it sounds like something a Dem would say, so they must be allies, right?). It’s simple deflection, really. Instead of focusing on the real reasons why this guy is still making videos (of ever-increasing production value, apparently) 6 years after Bush kicked off his ‘war on terror’, they decide it’s an excellent opportunity to paint it as the Dem’s fault because of their ‘appeasement’. It probably never occured to them that Zawahiri might say stuff like this because a divided America is in his best interest, and that they’re unwittingly playing right into it.
