Bring Me Some Propagandists!

August 2, 2007

Since King George is obviously unable to articulate his thoughts to the American people directly, he’s decided to..um….well…I’ll let Hugh Hewitt explain:

President Bush invited ten talk hosts into the Oval Office for an hour of conversation today –Glenn Beck, Bill Bennett, Neal Boortz, Scott Hennon, Laura Ingraham, Lars Larson, Mark Levin, Michael Medved, Janet Parshall and me. This was an off-the-record conversation, and so I won’t be quoting the president.

What, no Michael Savage?  Oh I forgot, he rips Bush quite a bit these days.  Well, that, and he’s crazy.  Hannity, on the other hand, must have been inconsolable.  Good to see that Mark “Cheney is the Rock of Gibraltar” Levin was summoned though.

Interestingly, Hewitt titles this post “A Wartime President”, which seems to be a bold attempt to apply some majestic status to this guy.  You know, “Wartime President”.  Think Abe Lincoln.  Except Lincoln managed to deliver the Gettysburg address himself.   Bush managed to invade a country and mangle the mission along with the rhetoric justifying it so badly that if you asked 10 different Americans what we’re doing there you’ll get 10 different answers.

So what does Bush do?

“The Great Caesar has a plan for victory!”

Update:  Carpetbagger reminds us that this isn’t the first pundit pow-wow for Bush.

Update:  LGM details some of the glowing Bush-inspired propaganda that’s already beginning to flow, along with a group photo!

  1. Great picture of yourself,Chen, but your tired reference to President Bush as King George passed its USE BY date years ago. Like a little child on the playground who gets ignored by the normal kids, you can only look on with anger and frustration at others enjoying the ultimate gift, being liked. And trust me, Chen, you are extremely unlikeable. that’s why you never get invited to the Partys.

  2. Let me give you a little piece of unsolicited advice Chen.
Hillary will probably be our next president. You will probably vote for her. Hillary is not perfect (I hate to burst your bubble) and she WILL make mistakes. Half the country will dislike her, in fact more then half already do. The people that hate her will say every vile thing imaginable and they will continue to say them until she leaves office.
You Chen will defend her. After all, you helped get her elected so you have a stake in her performance. You will understand honest criticism about her but you will never understand the venomous, vile hatred directed toward her and everyone that voted for her (that includes you). Not only won’t you understand the hatred, you’ll ask yourself how in the world these people can have such vitriol stored up inside them that they have the energy spew their hatred day after day after day…nonstop.
After you live through all that crap Chen, you will have an epiphany. You will say to yourself, “I am never going to be like those people, they’re F’n crazy”.

You seem like a pretty level headed guy Chen. You’re intelligent and (somewhat) likable. You have one big flaw though, it’s stamped right on your forehead. It says “I hate Bush”. It’s an all consuming obsession for you. Everyday on your blog it’s another “Bush is a dirtbag” or “Republicans are evil” thread. It’s getting to the point where I don’t even like to come here anymore.

I need positive input in my life. This place is becoming very negative.

    Think about it.

  3. Alfred-

This is actually the first time I’ve used “King George” on this blog. I do so in this context because of the way Kings would use loyal propagandists throughout history.

    Thanks for the comment though.

I don’t have a “Republicans are evil” thread. It’s not fair for you to say that. And whatever animosity I have towards Bush can traced back to the start of the Iraq war. It’s the WAR, and the fact that this administration is a disaster in general. Not conservatives. Not Republicans.

And I already told you that I don’t like Hillary.

I thought you knew all this already.

  4. “I don’t have a “Republicans are evil” thread.”

I refer you back to the ‘Kristol’ thread, and a few others where it was implied.

“….and the fact that this administration is a disaster in general.”

That’s an opinion. There is no evidence that this administration (other then the war) is any worse then the Clinton admin. In fact there is ample evidence that this admin (other then the war) is a whole lot better.

As far as voting for Hillary, when it comes right down to it and it’s Hillary vs Rudy or Fred, you know you’ll be pulling that lever for Hillary. To deny that would be dishonest of you. And I don’t think you are a dishonest person.

And as far as honesty goes, if it is just “the war” that upsets you so much, why don’t you at least wait to see how it turns out before you pass judgment?

That would be the intellectually honest thing to do.

  5. Gimme a break Sage. My site is mild compared to the rants that appear on most left or righty blogs. The Kristol thread, lets see, yea I think I called him a putz in the comment section. Why? Because he was wrong about everything when it came to Iraq, that’s why. It’s a far cry from “Republicans are evil”. My goodness. Too negative? It’s just an opposing political position to yours. There’s a difference there. Besides, it’s not like LGF is the glee club of cyberspace, and you can hang out there all day. Too negative? That’s a hoot.

And I might surprise you when it comes to pulling that lever.

  6. OK, you got me.
Your’s is not an extremist website, maybe that’s why I get upset at you. If you were daily kos or PuffHo I would write you off as some nut bag partisan wacko, never to grace you pages with my never ending wit, humor, intelligence and clarity.
But you do, sometimes, show impartiality. For that I do give you credit. But that’s also why I get upset with you. You do show some semblance of objectivity from time to time, except when it comes to one certain issue. Then you let that issue cloud your thinking about all other issues.

You need to take a day off, go out in the country…and meditate. Clear your head, take some deep breaths. Then you’ll be able to compartmentalize all your different issues, especially about the war, and start thinking clearly again.
