Chamber Election Day Thread
November 4, 2008Well, it felt like this day would never come, but here it is. Get out there and vote everyone!
I’ll be stuck at work the whole day, so I’ll have to get my election result updates via CNN’s twitter feed (hopefully they’ll txt me state-by-state results as they come in).
I guess I’ll hesitantly take the opportunity to offer up a prediction, and say that Obama will win by a healthy margin. L-Word, even. I’m predictably basing this on the analysis of the latest polls and election maps, but especially on the hints that the so-called “cell phone only” numbers reveal. But I’m keeping the beer on ice ’till the fat lady sings.
So here it is, the obligatory thread for the big day.

I got to early vote, already done! 2 Obama votes this household. Of course my state will probably go McCain, but it sure felt good anyway. If my red little county can be swung Obama it’ll say a lot.

Unless McCain is sworn in, and then dies in office, we’re screwed, either way. John McCain is a RINO of the worst demeanor, and Barack Obama is a non-Christian, refuses to take donation money from corporations (which are the pistons of our economic and political machine), and has openly stated that we should lose the War on Terror.
The only way you can go to heaven is by voting for John McCain while praying for Palin to usurp the Presidency, or by voting for Chuck Baldwin. Either way, you must pray!

The question that remains to be answered in the coming months is will a President Obama be able to shed the hard left ideology he has embraced his entire life and listen to economic advisers warning him of the coming train wreck his policies will create or will he stumble headfirst into a world-wide economic collapse? Two years ago, I never thought you and I would find a damn thing in common besides wanting to hold a gun to each other’s head. But with what has happened over at LGF what I hear, I almost consider you kin now.
I’m wondering if IOEOTO, Cadillac Tight, The Chamber and In2theFray should create one large election postmortem for the political bloggers alliance we all agree to post on the same day.
One real reflection on the election, one expectation for things to come sort of thing.

Well, I mean, c’mon. Honestly, Cindy McCain looks like the damn Crypt Keeper.
Anyway, I must admit that I’m still in a state of partial disbelief over this whole thing. The guy’s name is Barack Hussein Obama, fer cryin out loud. On the surface, that alone makes one a longshot. Add to that, his race and (relative) inexperience, and it is somewhat amazing that he overcame all that to become the next POTUS.
Tangentially, I should also say that I got into blogging out of anticipation for this day (I really didn’t care a whole lot about politics until I saw the march into Iraq play out in front of me on TV). I suppose, at this point, I feel that this event represents a sort of change of paradigm for me, since the guy that I voted for is finally going to be in there, and the train wreck that was/is the Bush admin. will soon be coming to an end. So, after years of bashing Bush and hoping that America makes it to see the next president in one piece, I’m not quite sure what direction my blogging will take now that this closure is in sight. I think I’ll try to concentrate on making sure that Obama is the president that I hope he would be, and take him to task when he isn’t. I don’t plan on being an unconditional defender, in any case.
I have this very funny feeling you’re going to be sorely disappointed General. Not because Obamer’s not a lefty; he is. But he won’t be able to stay on the ‘America is the cause of all evil side’ where you live if Obamer wants to get re-elected.
This megalomaniac is first concerned most with himself because I don’t think he’s too rooted in much else. He literally was elected as the man of no ideas. The tax plan is a joke and most people know it. Hell, Wall Street told us today what they think of the truth of Obamer.
But I got this gut feeling Obamer’s pragmatic enough like the serial rapist Clinton that he is going to throw you, KKKos and Rutherford into the path of the oncoming train like he did Jeremiah and is grandma when you become inconvenient political baggage.
It won’t be 18 months before you’ll find some new fruit loop to grasp onto and Obama will be tarred and feathered by your crowd until the general election. Then anybody with a ‘D’ beside their name you’ll be pulling straight line. If not, Obamer won’t be there too long.
I told you and I meant it that this side is much easier to sit on. All I’ve got to do is criticize, obfuscate, and throw rocks for four years. Do you know how much fun Tex is going to have at libbie’s expense? Already tonight, courtesy of your links I’ve already pissed several of them off on their one day they had to celebrate. And I’m not even warmed up yet Chen.

As for the Obama speech excerpt link you left for me, I found it quite funny because I actually found McCain’s “stand up and fight” rant that closes his stump speech to be incredibly Third Reich sounding and I don’t even need to have it translated to German.

Nah, we wouldn’t like each other. We’d be professional and courteous. You’ve got a pretty good sense of humor (for a lib), we share having daughters, there wouldn’t be trouble unless you started the religious bigotry. What friends that I have that our Democrats are conservative – but not the strict political definition. And it’s not simply being Christian either. There’s a mind set that is hard to dictate across a blog.

I’ve got this lib neighbor – a throw back to a 1967 commune who thinks we need a revolution like the 60’s. I mean you would look like Jesse Helms next to this one “R”. She had this Barry Obamer billboard sized sign in her yard along with every other schmuck with a ‘D’ next to their name. They all lost in the state. And every other year she comes to the door to pass political brochures to the Tex family because my wife is a registered Democrat. I smile, receive them warmly and use them to pick up dog shit. My wife shakes her head because she’s has some class – but she doesn’t protest either.
My state went 2:1 for McCain. And every other year come November this old coot for a neighbor cusses our state as stupid as she moved here from Michigan, always telling us about the great old days in her beloved town. Today was liveable because the messiah won as I said hi to her while I was raking leaves, as she floated across the lawn. I thought to myself, “how empty she must be that these elections are all she apparently has.” Yet, she refuses to leave my ‘stupid’ state. It’s because even a lib knows a good thing when they experience it and truth be known, she has no desire to move back. Tragic, really.
Anyway, I’m nice to her. I’ve bailed her out a few times because her equally worthless husband left her a few years back for another woman. I’ve helped around her house without asking, checked on her after storms, mowed her yard for her without being asked… Good neighbor, Good Samaritan, whatever. I’d treat you the same.
But you were mistaken when you talked about “feelings being hurt.” You talk about feelings but don’t recognize contempt. I peruse these blogs out of morbid curiosity. I have absolutely no desire for unification. I do know that there is a large part of this country that I don’t give a damn what happens to it. I do recognize that there are good and bad in every place and that’s not terribly Christian like. I don’t wish ill will – but neither do I care.
I ain’t lifting a finger to help if something happens to Vermont, or Boston, or Berkeley, or Chicago, or Hollywood, or NYC, or a handful of other places. I no longer share that unity Barry speaks of. I’ll grab the chips and change the channel to the ballgame next time.
This election and the respective candidates were a joke. Obamer may be pragmatic as you speak – but I also know he’s not near as talented as you would like to believe. It’s fun to needle each other on the board. You’re a worthy adversary, as are those listed above.
Finally, this time let me warn you of something like you did my glamour. Don’t mistake this as a referendum for Obamer. He won approximately 2% more than Gore. Oh, Obamer is pretty and he speaks eloquently when scripted. He’s a gift snakeoil salesman. That will get you some votes. No, this election was about Bush, about Republican spending, about an unpopular war, about broken promises, and about complete ignorance of what drives an economy.
Liberalism is a dismal failure. It always has been – it always will. If Obama manages that way, he won’t last. And if you were the betting man, I would wager some serious dollars that I am right.

Charles Johnson doesn’t even know enough about programming to index his tables correctly. What’s it take? About 10 minutes to load LGF? What would make two guys who have at least been educated in the sciences think Charlie knew the first damn thing about something as complex as the formation of life?

I was talking about Michele Obama. She’s the one with a hint of a streak. To the best of my knowledge she’s never said that. Although she did say ‘whitey.’ Everybody knows that.

Dude you just left that comment on a post written by someone that likened Cindy McCain to the Crypt Keeper. I would also say that Laura has proven herself to be someone her partner could lean on as opposed to duck from thrown objects. All that said I’d say people should indeed reserve commentary on Michelle Obama until she does something. For those that think TUCC attendance was worthy of smashing her. I’d say thinking real hard and deciding how deep you want to go on that is the order of the day.
LOL Good point. But it was never intended as a jab at her class or intellect, or her ability to be a role model. It was simply a superficial observation (which I prefaced as such), and I made an attempt to back up my assertion, complete with my own forensic anthropology and all that.
Also consider the fact that “cindy mccain crypt keeper” is in the Chamber’s top ten search terms as far as incoming traffic goes, so obviously I wasn’t the only one who thought there was a similarity.

Let’s say for a minute (just pretend) that instead of TUCC, Obama and his ummm lovely wife had been sitting in a Louis Farrakhan mosque for 20 years listening to his screed about Jews being the devil.
Now, tell me how Jeremiah Wright is any different in his opinions of whites than Louie is in his opinion of Jews. There is no difference. Both are equal opportunity hatemongers no matter race, creed or color. I could make a pretty good case that Wright might be worse because he uses his congregation for self gain like that mansion of a house in the ‘burbs courtesy of some poverty stricken folks at TUCC. Now, I know a lot of libs like Rutherford that would consider me deranged and abusive to take my own daughters and wife down to listen to an Aryan Brotherhood seminar each Sunday morning. And they would be right to believe so – even I used the ‘excuse’ it was a political opportunity and nothing else. Twenty years of this shit.

Do you have any idea of what black liberation theology is and its history? I personally don’t dig or get black separatist theology. I intellectually understand black nationalism and see similarities of the latter at different levels with each and every ethnic group in America. So with that said and full knowledge that people like Robertson, Hagee and others are out there too I think those that want to be proved right down the road should walk slow and sure down that road.
